Jordan Smithson
Copywriter
Jordan Smithson is a copywriter dedicated to crafting compelling narratives and articulating the heart of a story.
Prior to joining The Hatcher Group, Jordan worked as an associate at Politico and an editorial assistant at Virginia Living Magazine, where she wrote shortform print and web copy for the annual Best of Virginia 2021 edition and pitched longform stories about local businesses. Her most recent professional experience took her overseas to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, in India, where she taught English as a foreign language and conducted research on creative writing pedagogy in South Asia as a 2022–23 Fulbright Scholar.
Jordan is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she studied history and English. As a student, she began her professional career as a nonprofit intern in gender and reproductive justice (Global Impact Strategies, Maxine Platzer-Lynn Women’s Center) and human rights (Human Rights Foundation). A lover of language and literature, you can find her consuming three books at once (paper, e-book, audiobook) and teaching herself French and Tamil.
